The Masonic Cancer Center (MCC) will fund a limited number of projects through the UMN Genomics Center’s Collaborative Projects Group. The awarded projects will receive technical support for four months at 20% of the UMGC scientist’s full-time effort (16 days of work). Applicants must be a member of the MCC, and the awardee will be responsible for non-labor costs (reagents and consumables).
Please note that collaborative projects are reserved for complex projects that cannot be accomplished using our standard services. For more information on the types of projects that qualify for this award, please check the webpage for the Collaborative Projects Group.
Submissions and projects will run in four-month cycles. There will be three cycles per calendar year. For example, proposals submitted by April 5th, if approved, will run from May to September. See chart below for timelines on the three annual cycles for requesting support for a collaborative project through the MCC.
Step 1: Contact the UMGC FS team by filling out a brief form about your project. Deadlines to initiate contact:
Funding Cycle 1: Monday, December 2nd, 2019
Funding Cycle 2: Monday, April 5th, 2020
Funding Cycle 3: Monday, July 6th, 2020
Step 2: UMGC FS scientists will review projects and meet with MCC applicants who have potential projects that qualify for collaborative support.
Step 3: UMGC-approved projects will be forwarded to the MCC committee for evaluation.
Step 4: MCC-approved proposals are returned to the UMGC and the awardee is notified.
Step 5: The UMGC Collaborative Projects Group will meet with the awardee to discuss project details and to begin the project.
