GenoFest Afternoon Presentations

12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. | Illumina Technology Update
There are many new additions to the Illumina Library Prep, Sequencer, and Informatics portfolios since the last GenoFest we are excited to share! These advancements have been made so that Illumina may provide a better end-to-end solution for all your research applications, whether that is exploring the human exome or environmental surveillance of respiratory pathogens. On top of what is currently available for use in your lab, there will be announcements of soon-to-be-released chemistries to further support your research needs.

Presenter: Logan Silber – Illumina Sequencing Specialist

1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. | Exploring Diverse Applications of PacBio HiFi Sequencing
HiFi Sequencing technology from PacBio combines the benefits of exceptionally high quality with long reads to produce datasets that enable improved performance and unique applications. We will share examples of some of the most innovative assays that utilize HiFi Sequencing and highlight recent publications describing cutting-edge research enabled by those techniques. A high-level overview of HiFi Sequencing will be provided and experts will be available to discuss details as needed, but the primary thrust of this talk will revolve around interesting ways to use the shading datasets generated by HiFi Sequencing.

Presenter: Chris Black – PacBio Territory Account Manager

1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. | Exploring Applications with Nanopore Sequencing
Nanopore sequencing provides unprecedented access to even the most complex genomes and transcriptomes. With single-molecule raw read accuracy now over 99% and tunable read lengths ranging from millions of base pairs down to mononucleosome fragments, Nanopore data can span repetitive regions, produce accurate and contiguous genome assemblies, resolve large structural variants, outperform short-read SNP calling, and differentiate isoforms even at single cell resolution. All of this can be achieved without PCR, allowing the direct observation of base modifications as a standard practice.

Presenter: Brandon Blakey – Sr. Nanopore Account Executive
