SARS-CoV-2 Services

From the start of the pandemic, the UMGC has been actively involved with fighting the novel coronavirus. In March, 2020, we worked with the UMN Medical School to establish one of two state-wide “Minnesota Moonshot” COVID testing labs, and performed 250,000 COVID-19 tests through the end of August. We also developed innovative methods for sequencing-based viral genome surveillance, helped the Metropolitan Council perform SARS-CoV-2 surveillance on wastewater, and started in October 2020, have operated a new state-of-the-art lab for low-cost, high-volume, rapid turnaround “assurance testing”.
