Informatics Interest Group

Organized by the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute

The Informatics Interest Group is a UMN Google Group that meets every other Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30.

This group is sponsored by the RI Bioinformatics group at Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI) but is meant to be inclusive of all bioinformatics and computational biology enthusiasts at the University as well as neighboring Minnesota institutions.

The focus of this group is to publicize new software and resources of interest, to spotlight local seminars and events relevant to this community, and to act as a place for the discussion of ideas and questions related to our field. Each meeting allows time for roundtable discussions as well as a seminar or journal discussion.

Agenda

  • The first portion of the meeting (usually 5-15 minutes) is a roundtable discussion open to any and all questions or comments about informatics or working within MSI's environment. This is a chance for informatics experts and beginners alike to have their questions discussed or to chime in based on their specific expertise.
  • The second portion of the meeting is a featured presentation and/or guest speaker, with topics ranging from current research to published works, tool comparisons, how-tos with a favorite tool, or really any other topic of interest related to informatics.

Date: Wednesdays (every other)
