Spatialomics Interest Group Meeting (9/27)

UMN Researcher Spatialomic Presentation

Title: Analysis of chemotherapy response in ovarian cancer patients using the GeoMX digital spatial profiler

Presenter: Tim Starr, Ph.D. - Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health

Overview: As part of an ongoing “Ovarian Cancer Precision Medicine Initiative” (OCPMI) at the University of Minnesota we are performing molecular analyses of patient tumors to understand why a large percentage of women become resistant to platinum and taxane based chemotherapy. We performed digital spatial profiling of 90 proteins using the GeoMX DSP system on ovarian cancer samples from 10 patients. For each patient, we analyzed two matched samples: one sample taken from the tumor before treating the patient with chemotherapy and one sample taken from the tumor after the patient received initial rounds of chemotherapy. We are using the data to analyze changes in protein expression in the tumor and neighboring stroma after chemotherapy treatment.
