UMGC upgrades to the AVITI24, the first benchtop sequencer capable of direct cell profiling

November 11, 2024
The UMGC welcomes a new addition to its sequencing portfolio with the installation of the new AVITI24 system. By upgrading one of five existing AVITI instruments, researchers have new options for performing on flow cell multiomics on cells — enabling simultaneous examination of DNA, RNA, proteins, phosphoproteins, and cell structure within single cells. The UMGC is the first site in the world to upgrade to the AVITI24.
Powered by Element's new Teton chemistry, the AVITI24 is particularly relevant for cancer researchers, facilitating in-depth exploration of the links between the molecular makeup of cancer cells and how they function within complex tumors. With the ability to profile up to one million cells in a single experiment, AVITI24 can maximize the detection of rare cells, such as residual cancer cells or tumor-specific immune cells, which are difficult to detect using conventional methods.
AVITI24 will initially have four fixed Teton panels, including two focused on deep profiling of the MAPK signaling pathway, which plays a crucial role in the development and progression of tumors. Additionally, two other fixed panels will enable human immune profiling and neuroscience applications.
The UMGC will begin offering the AVITI24 as a service in late January 2025, when the Teton assays are anticipated and training is complete. Contact [email protected] with questions.
