Seminar: Rethinking the Cost of NGS with Ultima Genomics

The UMN Genomics Center invites researchers to a seminar on high-throughput, low-cost sequencing with Ultima Genomics and its research applications. Ultima sequencing is available as a core service through UMGC, providing UMN researchers with access to high-throughput sequencing at highly competitive rates.

Ultima Genomics will provide an overview of its technology, including its wafer-based sequencing approach, how it reduces sequencing costs, where it fits alongside existing short-read workflows, and upcoming developments in chemistry and wafer technology.

Kenny Beckman, UMGC Director, will then discuss the UMGC’s roughly 18 months of experience with the Ultima UG 100, the evolution of the platform here at the UMN, Ultima sequencing services currently available, and some future plans.

The seminar will conclude with a research presentation from Peter Morrell, Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics, highlighting the use of Ultima sequencing in cowpea and barley studies and sharing data and insights gained from applying the technology.
