Watchmaker Webinar: Introducing TAPS+ for Methylation Sequencing and Tumor Profiling

A five-base methylation sequencing approach that preserves base complexity and enables multimodal analysis.

DNA methylation patterns provide valuable information about biological diversity and disease, supporting classification and biomarker discovery. However, traditional methods such as bisulfite and enzymatic methylation (EM) sequencing convert unmodified cytosines to thymines, reducing nucleotide diversity. This reduced complexity complicates alignment and limits library complexity.

In this webinar, Watchmaker Genomics will introduce TAPS+, a positive readout approach that directly converts 5-methylcytosines (5mC) while preserving native nucleotide diversity. The presentation will compare TAPS+ with traditional methylation sequencing methods and highlight its applications in tumor profiling, including the identification of differentially methylated regions (DMRs) and exploratory detection of somatic SNVs/indels from the same sequencing libraries.

Kenny Beckman, Director of the UMN Genomics Center (UMGC), will present data from UMGC's validation of the TAPS+ workflow on the Ultima Genomics UG platform, compare TAPS+ with microarray-based methylation profiling, and present the UMGC’s service options and pricing for TAPS+ analyses.

Topics covered:

  • The chemistry and principles behind TAPS+.
  • How TAPS+ compares with traditional methylation sequencing methods and microarrays.
  • Applications in tumor profiling, including DMR identification and exploratory SNV/indel detection.
  • UMGC TAPS+ service offerings
